About

Hi, I'm Joshua Powell.

I make short history films in my free time — not for profit, just for the love of the past. I head out to mountain ridges, old cabins and open fields to film, then add hand-drawn sketch scenes to fill in the parts of the story no camera could reach.

Now I'm hoping to work with the reenacting community — the people who bring this history to life better than anyone.

How it works

From your event to the screen.

  1. 1

    Send a request

Tell me the date, the location and how many people will be there.

  2. 2

    We talk it through

I'll reach out personally to plan the shoot around both our schedules.

  3. 3

    I come film

I show up on the day and capture your event — the camp, the drill, the story.

  4. 4

    You get a film

Footage becomes a short film, often mixed with hand-drawn scenes, shared on YouTube.

Hand-drawn forest scene

Live footage meets the sketchbook.

The drawn scenes give each film its own look — part documentary, part storybook.
